Scotland’s Best Golf Courses
Birmingham, Alabama-based energy insurance executive Scott G. Sink has worked with McGriff, Seibels & Williams since 1994. Scott G. Sink, one of the firm’s top producers, is a golf enthusiast who cites Scotland as his favorite golf destination.
Scotland is home to over 500 golf courses, and many are considered among the best in the world. Here are some of the most notable Scottish courses for golfers of all levels.
St. Andrews - Golf has been played on this historic course for over 500 years. This history combined with the course’s notoriously challenging bunkers attracts golfers from around the world.
Muirfield - Located in East Lothian, known as the sunniest corner of Scotland, Muirfield has welcomed novice and professional golfers to its 7,245 yard course since the late 1800s. As of 2010, 42 championships had been held on the legendary course.
Kingsbarns - At just over 18 years old, Kingsbarns is one of Scotland’s newest courses. The course snakes along the rugged coast of the North Sea and offers breathtaking views.

Brit Crowned First USGA Senior Women’s Open Champion
Senior executive Scott G. Sink oversees the Energy & Marine Division of Birmingham, Alabama insurance brokerage firm McGriff, Seibels & Williams, Inc. Scott G. Sink possesses a BBA in risk management and insurance, and has nearly three decades of experience creating solutions with casualty insurance programs. Beyond his work in the insurance industry, he is an avid golfer and member of two local golf clubs, one of which hosted the U.S. Golf Association’s (USGA) Women’s Open in 2018.
The USGA organized its first tournament exclusively for women over 50 in 2018. The U.S. Senior Women’s Open invited 120 players with handicaps of 7.4 or better to complete for 50 slots. The championship round took place at the Chicago Golf Club.
British golfer Laura Davies beat out runner-up American Juli Inkster by 10 strokes to claim the championship title. Laura Davies has over 80 professional wins under her belt, including 20 LGPA tours.
The 2019 U.S. Senior Open is scheduled to run for three days in May and will be held at the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in North Carolina.
